Viserys I Targaryen is the fifth king of the Seven Kingdoms. He is known as a cordial, kind and honest man, chosen by a Grand Council of Lords to succeed his grandfather, King Jaehaerys I. Princess Rhaenyra is Viserys' eldest child, is a dragon ride and expects to become the first reigning queen of the Seven Kingdoms. However, his appointment is questioned by his younger half-brother, Aegon II, and Uncle Daemon, an expert dragon-riding and unparalleled warrior, wielding Valyria's steel sword called the Dark Sister, handed over to him by Jaehaerys I, his grandfather, many years earlier.
